About Our Partnership
A partnership between the Civic Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago and NORC at the University of Chicago

This website has two complementary components. One, linked above, is a unique collection of public and proprietary data on public safety outcomes. The data presented draws from City of Chicago, Cook County, and peer city data sources to present a holistic view of the criminal justice system that is not available from any other source.
The second component of the site, which you can explore below, is a data-driven presentation of the implementation of the Civic Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago’s public safety strategy. The Civic Committee’s Public Safety Task Force is pursuing an ambitious four-pillar strategy to tackle some of the most intractable near- and long-term barriers to a safer Chicago.
The Civic Committee—which comprises senior executives of the Chicago region’s leading employers—harnesses the full power of the business community through high impact programs and platforms that inspire collaborative action to make the Chicago region a better place for everyone to live, work, and do business.
NORC at the University of Chicago conducts research and analysis that decision-makers trust. As a nonpartisan research organization, we have studied almost every aspect of the human experience for more than 80 years.
The Civic Committee
The Civic Committee is committed to ensuring the public safety of the city it calls home. It harnesses the full power of Chicago’s business community through high impact programs and platforms that inspire collaborative action to make the region a better place for everyone to live, work, and do business.
The Civic Committee is pursuing 5- and 10-year goals to reduce shooting victimizations and homicides by more than half from their peak, following its North Star of making Chicago the safest big city in America.
